Send notifications from the Cloud Configuration

This section describes how to use the Send Notifications feature to send notifications to users through the Notifications API.

Procedure

  1. Expand the Configuration that you want to update, and then click Send Notifications.
  2. Complete the fields on the settings page as described below.
    If desired, click on Display previous notifications to view a history of sent notifications that have not yet reached their expiration date.

    Field Description
    Recipient Format Select a format for sending notifications. They can be sent using Mobile Sign-in IDs or SIS IDs.
    To Enter the users who will receive the notification. You can enter these individually by specifying recipients in the format you specify in the Recipient Format field.

    Select the Import List option to use a list that you provide in a file, or select the Send to All option to send to everyone.

    Import List Choose File – You can upload a simple file containing a list of IDs separated by a space, comma, or semi-colon.
    Send to All Select the check box to send the notification to all users.
    Expires Enter an expiration date for the notification. The notification will remain on users’ devices until that date.
    User cannot delete Select the check box to prevent users from being able to delete the notification from their mobile device before the expiration date.

    Field Description
    Mobile Headline Enter a title for the notification to appear in the push notification on the user’s mobile device.
    Note: This headline appears on the user’s device when the push notification arrives, and therefore might be viewed by someone other than the user. Care should be taken with the content of the mobile headline.
    Headline Enter a headline to appear for the notification in the Notifications module in Ellucian Mobile. This is a private headline, displayed within the Notifications module.
    Body Enter the text of the notification to appear within the Notifications module.
    Label If you selected the check box to include a hyperlink in the notification content, name the hyperlink.
    Include a link If you selected the check box to include a hyperlink in the notification content, provide a URL.
  3. Select the Include a link check box to include a hyperlink in the notification content. Then name the hyperlink and provide a URL.
  4. Click Send.
