Test and Publish a Configuration
To view your configuration on a device, you must place the configuration into test status. When you are ready to make your configuration available in the public list of institutions on Ellucian GO, you publish the configuration.

To improve performance, both the Mobile Integration Server web services app and the Colleague Web API cache information that changes infrequently during normal operation.
Manually clear the Colleague Web API cache
Dynamic information, such as student course and grade information, is refreshed by the Colleague Web API cache every five minutes. More static information, such as changes to buildings, locations, and important numbers, is refreshed daily.

Before You Begin
This section describes some advance preparations that you can make to help your Ellucian Mobile setup process to go as smoothly as possible.
Install Supporting Software
Before you can install the Ellucian Mobile components, there are several prerequisite software components that must be installed. Note that Grails is also required, but does not need to be installed separately because all Grails components that you need are included in the WAR file that you install later.
Install Ellucian Mobile Software
Install the Ellucian Mobile WAR file and perform basic configuration steps.
Set up the Mobile Cloud Configuration System
Set up the Ellucian Mobile Cloud Configuration System. Description of the process for signing from the Ellucian Hub, how to create and enter the configuration settings, and how to specify the SIS credentials.
Manage Users and User Permissions for the Mobile Cloud Configuration System
You can give selected people access to modify specific elements of your mobile configurations, such as user management, configuration management, branding, or sending push notifications.
Customize the Appearance of Ellucian GO
Set up the home screen, select background and text colors, and set up the About screen.
Set Up Location-Aware Features
Set up Ellucian Mobile features that are location-aware; that is, based on proximity to a beacon.

Test and Publish a Configuration
To view your configuration on a device, you must place the configuration into test status. When you are ready to make your configuration available in the public list of institutions on Ellucian GO, you publish the configuration.
- Place a configuration into Test status
  Each Mobile Integration Server web service app can control only one active configuration at a time. Placing a configuration into test status registers that configuration with the mobile server and provides you with a device URL that you can use to access your configuration for small-scale testing purposes.
- Refresh cached data
  To improve performance, both the Mobile Integration Server web services app and the Colleague Web API cache information that changes infrequently during normal operation.
  - Mobile Integration Server cache
    The Mobile Integration Server caches certain data that changes infrequently.
  - Manually clear the Mobile Integration Server cache
    To clear the data in the Mobile Integration Server cache, stop and restart your Mobile Integration Server web services app in Tomcat. This ensures that Ellucian GO is reading fresh data from your SIS.
  - Change the Mobile Integration Server caching behavior
    For information that is cached by the Mobile Integration Server, you can change the item count (number of items of each type that are cached) and the default expiration time after which cached data is refreshed.
  - Manually clear the Colleague Web API cache
    Dynamic information, such as student course and grade information, is refreshed by the Colleague Web API cache every five minutes. More static information, such as changes to buildings, locations, and important numbers, is refreshed daily.
- Publish a configuration
  The final step to make a configuration available to users is to publish it. When the configuration is published, users can see it in the school list in the Ellucian GO app and begin using it.
- Unpublish a configuration
  If necessary, you can withdraw a configuration from Ellucian GO.
- Replace a configuration
  Replace a published configuration with a new configuration.
Analyze Usage
The Google Analytics Platform lets you measure user interactions across various devices and environments. You can use Google Analytics to view detailed usage statistics of your school's Ellucian Mobile implementation.
Manage Configurations
In addition to the ability to add a new configuration manually, you can create a new configuration by copying an existing one, export configuration information, import configuration information, and migrate a configuration to a different database.
Set up multiple Mobile Integration Server Web Service Apps
If you want to have multiple active configurations at the same time, you need to set up multiple Mobile Integration Server web service apps.
Set up Load Balancing and Redundancy
Multiple Mobile Integration Servers can be set up for a single configuration. This can be done to scale the solution to support more mobile users, or for redundancy. Deployment of multiple Mobile Servers requires a shared data storage using either a Microsoft SQL Server or an Oracle database.
Ellucian Mobile on Wearable Devices
Users can view push notifications on their Android Wear and Apple Watch devices. Users with Apple Watches can also view ILP assignments and maps.
Debugging
Send detailed information from Ellucian Mobile to the log file to support troubleshooting.

Manually clear the Colleague Web API cache

About this task

You can manually clear the Colleague Web API cache if you want to immediately see the effect of changed data.

Procedure

Open IIS Server on the server that hosts the Colleague Web API (it must be a local host connection) and browse to the Colleague Web API application.
Click the Utilities link at the top right.
On the Colleague Web API Utilities page, click Clear Data Caches.
Go to the Task Scheduler and run the task that repopulates the Colleague Web API cache.
Stop and restart your Mobile Integration Server web services app in Tomcat.
This restart clears the Mobile Integration Server cache to ensure that Ellucian GO is reading the fresh data from the Colleague Web API.
