Publish a configuration

The final step to make a configuration available to users is to publish it. When the configuration is published, users can see it in the school list in the Ellucian GO app and begin using it.

About this task

Do not publish a configuration until it is ready for production usage at your institution. When published, your configuration will be listed in Ellucian GO alongside all configurations published by other institutions. Publishing a configuration with "test" in the name diminishes the perceived quality of the app and might cause users at your institution and other institutions to avoid using Ellucian GO. Procedure

  1. Expand the configuration that you want to publish and click Publication.
  2. In the Settings area, confirm that the Display Name for the configuration is what you want to appear in the list of available institutions when end users download Ellucian GO and look for your school. Change it if necessary.
    Do not change the Display Name after publishing the configuration. The Display Name is used as part of the configuration URL that the mobile app uses to retrieve configuration data.
    Note: Mobile users will not see a list of available institutions, and so will not see this display name, if you have disabled the "allow switch school" option using Ellucian Mobile Platform Edition.
  3. Enter any Keywords that will help end users find your institution when they search for it. Type a comma or press the Tab key after each keyword.
    Suggested keywords include any abbreviations by which your institution is known, the city and state where your institution is located, and perhaps even your mascot. All of the words in the Display Name are automatically treated as keywords and do not need to be entered here.
  4. In the Status & Actions area, click Publish, and then select either Ellucian GO or To Custom App.

    If you select Ellucian GO, your configuration is now live and available in Ellucian GO. The Custom App option applies only to institutions that have licensed the Platform edition.

    The cloud configuration tool displays two URLs. The "Configuration" URL is used by the Ellucian GO app to connect to this configuration. If you click this link, a browser opens and displays a JSON response that can be helpful in some troubleshooting situations.

    The "Institution Configuration List" link shows a list of all published configurations for an institution. Institutions that have licensed the Platform edition can use these URLs for publishing their own branded apps to the app stores (see the Platform Edition Developer's Guide for information).
